How TV series and movies make you a different, a better person!

It is pretty normal now when people say, "I just completed one season of this TV series". Instead of waiting everyday for a new episode, we just sit in front of a laptop and binge-watch 5 to 6 episodes every day. Not just nerds, but even normal people do it. You just get addicted to one show and then there is nothing that can stop you. Suspense in most of the shows is terrible. Its addictive. But what is life, without a little suspense. A mixture of hope and fear, suspense brings out the nerd out of a person. It combines curiosity with fear and then we don't stop until we find the answer of the question we are looking for.

Who will die? Who will be together? Who will find it? Who the fuck will win?
The list of questions is endless and it only gets longer with every season you complete.

Its probably because of stress and dull lifestyle of people nowadays. In the blind rat-race while running, we forget that we need to slow down for a while and look for something different. And that's exactly what TV series provide us.  A breath-taking fictional journey with mild and harsh attacks on our beliefs, isn't that what we look for? Something different from the real world. Something over-rated which lets us forget about our stress and takes us to a different world. A world which makes us believe that magic exists.

The story, autobiographical or fictional, classic or folklore, historical or romantic, picaresque or non-linear, however has a deep influence on a human mind. It changes the way we look at the real world, the way we think, the way we understand people, every single thing related to our behavior in the world gets changed. And it changes us. You get to learn a lot of things. You maturity goes a level up after you complete a series. You relate to any of the character and you start acting like that. In fact, you become a different person, a better person than you were before.

We also get many important life lessons from these shows. Here are some of them:

1) Everyone is the hero of their own story.

In every story, the concept of good and bad, the hero and the villain varies according to the person.
In Breaking Bad, we saw the evolution of a mild mannered school teacher and family man into a ruthless criminal mastermind and a murderer. But Walter had to turn into a monster because he cared about his family. After diagnosed with lung cancer, he was worried about his family's well being in the future which resulted into several murders and a huge meth empire.

But was it really his fault?
Is caring too much about the people we love a bad thing?

2) Life's not always fair. But you gotta live it anyway.

There are so many examples to explain this statement. Tyrion from Game of Thrones, Mike from Suits, Walter from Breaking bad, etc. Life may not be fair but you get used to it somehow. You have to deal with it. Sometimes it rains the hardest on those who deserve the sun the most. Wait for the sunshine. The sun rises everyday. :)

3) When you live fragile lives, its the best way you survive.

When you know that tomorrow isn't guaranteed for you to come, then you risk everything that you own today. Jon Snow from Game of Thrones fought everyday since he left Winterfell. Sometimes he won. Sometimes he lost. He was even brought back from death. But that was the most wonderful thing of his journey. From a bastard at Winter-fell to a steward in castle black to a lord commander and eventually the king in the north, his fragile life was the reason behind his incredible journey.

4) Some people in your life cannot be replaced.

While growing up, some people leave. You might think that you can find their replacement. But you don't. There is a possibility that you can find someone better, but its not them. And that's the only thing that matters, its not them. At the end of How I met you mother, Ted tells how their group breaks after he gets married and all of them grow old. He finds Tracy (the mother) but he never finds a replacement for Robin. And even after years of searching, in the last episode it eventually ends up the way it started, Ted holding the blue horn in his hand outside Robin's apartment.

5) You have to find your own way through mistakes that you made which cannot be changed.

Mistakes cannot be avoided. No matter how much you try, you cannot run away from them. We all make mistakes and we all pay for them. Harvey hired Mike who wasn't even a lawyer and through the entire journey he went through many problems. At a point, even his law firm was at risk. But he never quit. He fought, every single day for one mistake that he made and every single time, he found a solution.

6) People judge, everyday.

It doesn't matter who you are, the president or an employee or a common man living his simple life, the society will judge. Everyone will have opinions. Now you got a problem with that, then you are living wrong. There is a possibility that you are judging me right now about me writing this blog. But its fine. Its just natural human behavior.
Sherlock Holmes was considered to be a psychopath by everyone around him. But he didn't care. He just loved what he did and it eventually turned out to be one of the greatest story.

7) Everyone can fall down.

No matter how high you are flying, there is always a possibility, that you might fall. But how we rise after the fall is what defines us. Only the best can stand up after a fall. Hank from breaking bad almost lost  his legs. There was no hope for him to stand again. He was probably going to spend the rest of his life on a bed. But he turned his life around. He didn't just start walking again but also found out about Walt's drug empire.

8) Every man has a breaking point.

Every person, no matter who he is has a breaking point. Just say the right words and they'll break like glass. Destiny is cruel. It has funny ways of breaking things. Sherlock Holmes, Harvey Specter, Walter White, etc. every main character from almost all the TV series found themselves lost at a point and they did cry. But that wasn't the end. It was one of the most memorable part of the series because after that point, all of them found a way to fix themselves.

9) Its tough to grow up.

Since childhood, we all dream of how we are going to be when we grow up. But growing up is one of the toughest things in life. You turn out to be a completely different person from the one you thought you were going to be. But the best thing is, when you grow up, all the things turn out to be better than you planned them before.
The best example I can give is Jesse Pinkman. From a drug addict guy to a legit stud, this guy had one of the best evolution in TV history. He had to go through a lot of trouble and depression. But at the end, his smile told us how great his journey was.

10) Have patience. Know that whatever is written for you is written by the greatest writer.

Be it a TV series or simple life, Everyone has a story to tell. I don't know if every story is already written or we ourselves write it, but it is filled with a lot of twists and turns.

Although not all stories are written on pages and books, some stories get stored in our heart.
Life is one hell of a ride. There are ups and downs, you character is transforming every single day and it is getting better. With all the new people you meet, the places you see, the experiences you get, a page is added to your story every day.

Make sure, if tomorrow someone reads your book, at the end, instead of a regret, they tell everyone about it with a huge smile on their face. :)
